#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: I have enjoyed being a voice for the Junior clubs in the Florida Region for the past 2 years. I feel that I have been able to help the region continue to grow and be successful by putting in my input as the voice of District 1, and answering questions of any and all directors, parents, and athletes any time they call on me. I would like to continue to make a difference in the growth of the region, as it will help the growth of the Florida Volleyball athletes as well.

MITCH SADOWSKY

Club Location: District 2

Club Title: Director

Club Gender: Boys

Yrs as a Club Director: 1

Size of Club: 90 Members

Previous USAV-FL Committees: JAB since 2009

#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: The #1 initiative i would pursue is to continue and enhance coordination of the growth of boys volleyball at the club, high school and middle school levels as well as outdoor opportunities in the state of Florida.

Other Comments: I feel I could best serve on the Junior Admin Board because of my experience locally, nationally and internationally with the game of volleyball. I feel I have new and different ideas I can bring to the region to help increase not only the number of boys playing the game but enhancing their training as well. I believe there is significant interest, we just need to find new and creative ways to help grow the opportunities for boys in the Florida Region.

With my experience both on the girls side as well as the boys, I feel I am uniquely qualified to help represent the region in a number of ways that I can best represent the interests of juniors in the Florida Region.

#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: Make sure the Director’s of the Florida Region are more informed, as to what is going on in their region.

Other Comments: I have been a part of the Florida region for the past 21 years. I have worked with teams of all levels, working in clubs that were elite level and clubs that are developing. My teams have made 10 JO competitions and have won 5 Regional Bid championships. I have been a member of the AVCA for the past three years.   I am IMAPCT certified, and have worked volleyball camps over the last 21 years at U. of Tampa, UF, FSU, Florida Southern U, and the U. of Virginia.

Why do I feel I would be able to serve the directors of the Florida region, Experience. My goal is to use my experience in making the JAB more responsive to the Directors of the Florida region. In those 21 years I have gone to many Junior Assembly Meetings and BOD meetings, and have listened to directors of different size clubs, voice their concerns from recruiting to there small tournaments not counting towards rankings.  With my experience and being a member of the JAB, I will be able to help solve these problems with the input of the Directors of the Florida region.

Yrs as a Club Director: 5

Size of Club: 6 Teams

Previous USAV-FL Awards: Most Improved Club, Extra Mile Award (2x), Parent of the Year

Previous USAV-FL Committees: Adult Coordinator on BOD

#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: I believe that Junior Coaches training should be a priority. I understand that playing to win is what makes it a sport. I do not think that coaching by intimidation is going to hold players for the long term.

Other Comments:

I started playing volleyball in 1968. The game has changed in many forms since I started. It does not matter what those changes are. Every time I step on the court it is like grown up hide and seek. Those times when your friends would come over and you start a pick up game of hide and seek. That moment is the most fun you have ever had in your life. My coaches tell me I would play my hardest against a team of ten year olds. They are right.

We have done an amazing job of bringing players to the sport. I think we have an equal responsibility to keep them in the sport. I know we track new players. I wonder if we track the ones we lose. I do not know what the cost is of our growth in the region or what each new member costs to attract. I do know that whatever that cost is it would cost less to keep the players we now have.

The answer to that is education for all of us. Understanding what we as coaches want out of the experience. Understanding what the players are looking for out of the experience. Understanding what the parents are looking for out of the experience. Utilizing this information to better educate all of the individuals involved in our clubs. I would like to work with all of you toward this end.

ORE

PABLOS

Size of Club: 13 Teams

Previous USAV-FL Awards: Coach of the Year, High Performance Director, Team Florida Champions (2x)

Previous USAV-FL Committees: High Performance Coaches Selection Committee (2003 & 2004)

#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: I think the more involved that dedicated people can be to grow the sport and enhance the opportunities for young people is the #1 priority.

MIKE

ZARATE

Club Affiliation: Ocean B

Club Location: District 4

Club Title: Director

Club Gender: Boys & Girls

Yrs as a Club Director: 3

Size of Club: 400+ Members

Previous USAV-FL Awards: Male Indoor Player of the Year in 2004

Previous USAV-FL Committees: Adult District Representative

#1 Initiative to pursue if elected: A work program to assist boys/girls that cannot afford to play club volleyball

Other Comments: I feel I would be a good representative for juniors as I have been a girls AND boys volleyball club coach for over 10 years. I am the founder of various adult and junior volleyball clubs including Cracker and Rice, Club F1, Club Florida, and now OBV. I am committed to BOTH girls and boys volleyball as a womens' college asst coach, boys HS head volleyball coach, boy's HP head coach, and head coach of both a boys club team and girls club team. My goal is to help both the girls and boys volleyball programs grow in Florida and to help athletes continue to play in college and receive scholarships.
